Our Homeschool Room

We started homeschooling when my oldest daughter was in preschool. We didn't have an extra room in our house that could be dedicated solely to homeschooling, so I set up a little spot in our kitchen with a table, calendar, whiteboard, and book ledge.

After we finished her preschool year, I decided I wanted to have more space. Like I said, we didn't have an extra room so we got creative. We decided to transform my oldest daughter's room into a homeschool room. She only used it to sleep in at bedtime so it was perfect!

White shelves: These are the 6 cube Brightroom shelves from Target. I love how solid they are! And it's really nice that they can be turned vertically or horizontally.

Table and chairs: We got this table and chairs similar to this. It is the perfect size for young kids! It's really sturdy and the legs of the table fold down for easy storage.

Printer: We have the Epson Eco Tank 2850 and love it! We've had it for over a year and the ink levels are still really good.

Baskets: I love how big and deep these are. We got them from Target and they fit perfectly inside the shelf cubes. We use them to store reader books and coloring/activity books.

Plastic drawers: I use these to store and organize supplies like pencils, crayons, and erasers as well as small objects like buttons, pom poms, and popsicle sticks.

Rug: We got the 3 x 5 size and I love that it adds so much color to our homeschool room! Our oldest has even learned some of the states just from playing on top of it.

White board: We got ours secondhand but here is a similar one.

Calendar: This magnetic Melissa and Doug calendar has worked really well for us! We use it every day to talk about the date, weather, and activities.

This set up has worked really well for us and we will no doubt be making changes as we go through different seasons of life and schooling. But you definitely don't have to have an extra room to be able to homeschool! We mostly use our homeschool room but often find ourselves at the table or on the couch. Homeschooling can be done wherever you have space, so find what works for your family!
