Gift Guide 2023

The holidays are right around the corner! It can be a daunting task to select gifts for the kids in your life. There are just so many options and opinions that it can be overwhelming! I put together this list in hope that it'll give you some great ideas.

I have broken it into sections: toys, art, games, and books. We own and love ALL of these items!

TOY GIFTS

Yoto Player (this link will give you 10% off your purchase!)

We got the Yoto mini over a year ago and it is still used daily in our home. If you haven't heard of the Yoto player, it is a screen-free audio player for kids. You can buy or make cards that slide into the top that play music or audiobooks. There is also a kids radio station and podcast on the device called Yoto Daily. The host does games, trivia, jokes, facts etc.

We are huge fans of the Yoto! My girls LOVE the cards and the podcast! They really like getting to control the volume and which song/chapter they want to listen to. The mini has been great for traveling and allowing them to carry it around the house. I love that it is not connected to wi-fi (for security reasons) and it has been so fun to get new cards as a family.

These are the MOST used toys at our house! My girls love to build with them and use them to build houses, cities, train tracks, roads etc for their little animals and dolls. We recently got magnetic people and cars to go with it. There are lots of great brands, I linked the exact ones we use.

I started collecting Little People (finding them at thrift stores/garage sales) when my oldest was really little. We have a pretty good collection and I'm so glad because they are such a great toy for all ages.

When our kids were babies, they could hold them and suck on them. As toddlers, it was a favorite toy. My oldest who is 5 years old, still plays with them daily and we've even babysat older kids who loved them. They've been a great toy that have "grown" with our family.

There are so many different kinds of people and sets! There's Disney characters, families, animals etc. I love that they don't break and are washable.

This is super fun for imaginative play! My girls love to play ice cream shop with each other and it's always a hit when friends come over. The pieces are made of wood and really sturdy. We've even used this for math lessons on using money!

These might seem so random but hear me out! Our turtle shells are well loved at our house and I think it's because they are so open ended. My girls have used them to step on, make obstacle courses, use as baby beds/baskets/bowls, wear on their backs to pretend to be turtles, and sit and spin in them. It comes with a spinner and cards to play a fun game too!

We have this set of large animals, some smaller farm animals, and toob animals that my kids love to play with. They use them for pretend play and sensory bins.

ART GIFTS

We LOVE these no-mess water drawing pads. I love that they are reusable too! They have all different kinds of themes. We use these for quiet time, road trips, and church.

My 5 year old has been really into drawing lately, so we got these for her birthday and they are a HIT! She loves them so much. She uses them for drawing and especially when she does her favorite art tutorials. They are really fun to use because they are smooth (it feels like you are drawing with a tube of lipstick!)

This is a favorite at our house! It's simple, stores flat, and there's no mess. These are also a favorite for quiet time, road trips, and church.

We use these several times a week for school projects or when my kids want to paint!

Did anybody else do shrinky dinks as a kid?! My daughter was gifted a set similar to this for her birthday and I was so excited to do them with her! If you've never done them, you color on a clear plastic sheet then heat it in the oven. It's so fun to watch them shrink small then you can put them on jewelry or keychains.

This year, we have used the Art Makes Me Smart course from Lily and Thistle to go along with our Around the World studies. We have LOVED it so much! My girls have had a blast and I've been able to join the fun too and have learned a lot. They also have other art courses- Nature's Art Club and Watercolor School. If you have a kid that loves art, these would be such a great gift. Let me know if you are interested and I can send you a free preview!

GAME GIFTS

Games are a big part of our family culture! We love to play them. Here are some of our very favorite kid games.

Everyone is collecting their own ingredients to complete a recipe while trying to finish before the other players! This one is fun because even my three year old can play.

Ten queens are put under a sleeping spell and the point of the game is to wake them up. There are fun cards like dragons, knights, magic wants etc. and it's a great way to sneak some easy addition in! It says for ages 8 and up but my 5 year old plays it.

This game is pretty much the same as bingo but the best part is the slider that pops the tokens out. My girls love being able to do it! My three year old is able to participate in this game as well because she can match the pictures.

This is a fun one that even my husband and I enjoy playing! You can ask 10 yes or no questions to try to figure out what the animal is. Our five year old loves this one. There are so many other versions as well (states, countries, food, professions, sports, dinosaurs and more!)

This is a fun one! It reminds me of Hi-Ho Cherrio if you've ever played that. You have to collect an acorn of each color to store in your log. The squirrel pinchers are definitely the highlight for my kids!

A quick, flip game to match a picture on the card you have in your hand to the community card. This one is even fun for adults!

BOOK GIFTS

We always gift our kids a new book or series for Christmas. Here are our favorites! Click on the link to see the list.
